Moore County man charged in fatal shooting at Aberdeen hotel

Aberdeen, N.C. — A 24-year-old Moore County man was charged Friday in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Sept. 6 at an Aberdeen hotel.
According to investigators, Brandon Michael Bowden, of Taylortown, shot and killed Michael Dawayne Corley, 25, shortly after 10 p.m. at the Country Hearth Inn & Suites on U.S. Highway 1. Bowden surrendered to authorities Friday afternoon.
Bowden faces a voluntary manslaughter charge in the shooting, and he was in the Moore County jail early Saturday under a $500,000 secured bond. He is due in court Monday.
No other information about the shooting was released. It was the second at the Country Hearth Inn & Suites in two months. A Georgia man was killed there on July 26.
