CAMERON, N.C. — A 33-year-old Moore County man has been charged with murder in the death of a 22-year-old Aberdeen woman found Monday near Cameron.

Authorities responding to a call on Monday found Meghan Burum dead in the back seat of a vehicle.

Ivory Eugene Robinson, of 121 Lincoln Avenue, Vass, is charged with murder in Burum's death. He was in the Moore County jail Tuesday being held without bond. Robinson will make a first court appearance on July 27.

Authorities have not released any other information about how Burum died, but Moore County Sheriff Neil Godfrey said in a statement that it was drug related.

"North Carolina law clearly states that a person can be charged with murder when that person unlawfully distributes a drug to someone and the ingestion of that drug causes the death of the user," Godfrey said.
