— Moore County detectives charged an Aberdeen man in a reported statutory rape Tuesday.

On Monday Maria Lerma reported to the Moore County Sheriff's Office that her daughter, 15, had run away. Lerma said her daughter was possibly accompanied by a man from Aberdeen.

Sheriff's deputies said they found the juvenile near her mother's home.

Lerma reported a sexual assault after her daughter was evaluated at Moore Regional Hospital.

Detectives arrested Marco Antonio Flores, 20, of 103 Camberly Lane. Flores is charged with one count of statutory sexual offense committed by a person four to six years older than the victim.

Flores is being held in the Moore County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 16.

I can't for the life of me figure out what this has to do with race. Hispanics, blacks, and whites are doing the same thing everyday. What we need to do as parents are teach our young girls and boys right from wrong. Also let them know they can come and talk to you about anyhing. That way they don't have to turn to older kids or adults in the streets. As for the 15 y/o girl IF she ran away with the young man on her own and agreed to engage with sexual activity with him they both should be charged with the crime.

The problem is what we're teaching kids from the time they're in 5th grade: "Do whatever you want, as long as it feels good to you and you're not hurting anyone else." Then, when they're 15 and have a 20yo partner, and we get all upset. Well, HELLO - they're both following exactly what we taught them.

It used to be those who weren't a virgin when they got married were ridiculed for their lack of self-control. Now, it's the virgins who are ridiculed ... we even make movie comedies about them. What kind of message you think young adults are understanding on this subject?

Don't the police have real crimes to investigate? If this girl had killed someone, the thread would be full of posts about how 15 year olds are old enough to know better and should be held responsible. However, if she has sex, she is a child that needs to be protected. You can't have it both ways. The young woman made a choice, probably a bad choice, but it was her choice.

Also, I don't understand older people who pretend nobody had sex before 1973. Just a couple of generations ago, nobody was getting married at 25. It was just expected that you got married and moved out when you were quite young.

Amusedone= 15 is to a child. Parent's are held accountable until their child turns 18 NOT 15. Child support ends at 18 NOT 15. I can go on If you like.

ladyblue= come on now Im sure you have some stories .... Dont act so innocent..

Lordy Lordy what happened to that song they sung in the old day. Something like first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage. With the way our world is I do not think young men should be charged with statutory rape if the girl has agreed. It's a lot of girls (icallthem) who know more about sex at the age of 12 (could it be sex education) than I did as a 17 y/o. I am proud to say in my time we waited.

As a Dad I might have done the same thing..OR MORE..But in thinking back my first..I was 15 and she was 14..My mother had her first child when she was 13. I guess it just goes to show how much our views and laws had changed through the years.

PT YOU SAID IT CORRECTLY , INVASION , WE ARE BEING INVADED BY ILLEAGAL IMIGRANTS. OUR SOCIAL SYSTEM IS STRECHED TO THE MAX, OUR HOSPITOLS ARE USED AS REGULAR DR'S OFFICES AND SOME WOULD EXPLAID THIS AS THESE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ANY EDUCATION THEY NEVER HAD THE OPERTUNITIES THAT WE DID , OH YEA THEN HOW IS IT THEY KNOW HOW TO GET A DIFFERENT GREEN CARD FOR EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK , OR HOW IS IT THEY KNOW WHAT ECONOMIC REGIN TO SET UP HOME IN , OR HOW IS THEY KNOW THAT IF THEY HAVE A HALF AMERICAN CHILD THEY CAN STAY.FOR UNEDUCATED PEOPLE THEY SURE ARE SMARTER THAN WE ARE , FREE HEALTH CARE , FREE FOOD , FREEHOUSING , COMMIT CRIMES IE DWI , RAPE, ALL WITH NO TRUE RAMIFICATIONS. BUT DEPORTATION , FREE TRIP HOME , ONLY TO RETURN WITH A NEW IDENTIFICATION. NOW WHO IS UNEDUCATED?

Amusedone - You may not believe that a 15-year old is still a child, but in this day and age (NOT the "old days") MOST 15-yr olds are NOT mature enough to handle the pressures of a serious relationship; much less marriage, childcare or financial planning. They can BARELY get jobs...
One of my daughter's best friends is about to be 18 and a high school senior-she has a 3-year old child with another on the way. She and her boyfriend ("baby daddy") live with her parents; he is 22 and working. They're very happy - still, I find it sad that all the kids think they're such great role-models just because they've stayed together...
