A 79-year-old Moore County man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. 

<b>CARTHAGE, N.C.</b> — A 79-year-old Moore County man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

James Lee Thomas, of 139 Dundee Drive, Carthage, is charged with one count each of felony second-degree sexual offense, felony indecent liberties with a child and sexual battery.

According to Moore County deputies, Thomas sexually assaulted the girl during the early-morning hours on Nov. 14 at a home in Carthage.

Thomas was in the Moore County jail Tuesday being held under a $150,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make a first court appearance on Dec. 8.
