VASS, N.C. — Board members of a Moore County charter school are facing accusations of violating the school's bylaws.

A lawsuit filed by directors and the parent-teacher association claims the actions of five board members from the Sandhills Theatre Arts Renaissance School could cost the facility its charter.

The lawsuit says the accused held secret meetings and some remained on the board after their terms expired.

The school - also known as STARS - was placed on probationary status by the state in July.
