Moogfest will bring all sorts of music, art and technology to Durham for a four-day festival that starts Thursday.

And, among the many performances, workshops and shows, there's a focus on so-called STEAM subjects (that's Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and entertainment for kids.

Moogfest's STEAM schedule includes musical Rube Goldberg workshops; Beats and Star Wars demos; plus an opportunity to see DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba, along with Plex and Muno from the popular Nick Jr. show. They'll be there with others involved in electronic music for children on Saturday at the American Tobacco Campus.

These programs are all free - part of Moogfest's many free offerings. They also include a musical playground at the Aloft Hotel. The installation incorporates both analog and digital instruments inside a 24-foot geodesic dome, which sounds like a lot of fun.
