Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — It was another ‘Moral Monday’ protest at the General Assembly, which, of course, meant more arrests.
Nearly 20 people were arrested outside the Senate chamber doors, days after a judge struck down rules regarding demonstrations inside the building.
This week’s protest focused on collective bargaining and raising the minimum wage.
In non-‘Moral Monday’ news:
- The Senate rejected the House version of the budget. Senate and House members will now meet to hash out their differences.
- The Senate unveiled their version of a coal ash plan with harsher deadlines, which environmentalists say isn’t harsh enough. Duke Energy said the deadlines may be too aggressive.
- Senators debated the nomination of Charlton Allen to the state Industrial Commission, which hears disputes between workers and their employers over workers compensation claims.
