There was supposed to be a motions hearing in Wake County Superior Court regarding the voter ID law, but it turned into an information session by the judge regarding a tweak to the law that was passed last week and its impact on the case. The case will be picked up again on July 2.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — There was supposed to be a motions hearing in Wake County Superior Court regarding the voter ID law, but it turned into an information session by the judge regarding a tweak to the law that was passed last week and its impact on the case. The case will be picked up again on July 2.
In addition:
- The House did not receive the Senate’s version of the state budget. That’s expected to happen later this week.
- House members were supposed to debate redistricting between the cities of Greensboro and Trinity, but that was pushed back to Wednesday.
But what did happen was the Center for Death Penalty Litigation released a report exploring how the threat of the death penalty has been used in cases where charges were ultimately dismissed or the accused was acquitted.
