Mom writes a ‘missed connections’ post to a potential bff

Posted October 2

As we get older, it can become harder to make new friends. Gone are the built-in social circles of school and team sports. Moms, especially, may long for other mom friends to hang out with and relate to, but can struggle with where or how to find them. Although potential friends could be lurking everywhere you go, from the playground to the schoolyard to the grocery store, it can be difficult to approach strangers and strike up a conversation.

That’s why Nikki Pennington, a mom who blogs at Grief to Hope, took to Facebook to write a “missed connections” post in an effort to get the attention of the one who got away, or at least make other moms LOL in recognition.

The “missed connection” in this case was not of the romantic variety, but instead was with a fellow mom whom Pennington saw at Target and felt had serious BFF potential.

It all started when Pennington noticed the striking similarities between her and her “mom crush.”

“You were also wearing yoga pants with flip flops and a messy bun,” wrote Pennington. “The venti Starbucks in your hand was a dead giveaway that even though you were wearing yoga pants you had in fact not come from the gym. I know because I was doing the exact same thing.” Here’s a shot of Pennington and her three kids, who no doubt are the (adorable) reason behind her penchant for yoga pants and caffeine:

She goes on to note that their carts were even filled with similar items: diapers, soda, wine and chocolate. While Pennington says their carts “hit once as once as we rounded the corner from aimlessly pretending to be shopping for something in our favorite store when in reality we were both just having a moms night out,” she didn’t get a chance to actually say anything in person to the woman she believes could be her “BMFF (best mom friend forever.)”

She concludes the post by letting her missed connection know that if she sees the post and is interested in hanging out, the two can plan on meeting up again at Target.

“Maybe I'll see you again, same time, same aisle and this time we can wander around aimlessly in Target together for our moms night out,” she wrote.

Too funny! People on Facebook found the blogger’s post both hilarious and totally relatable. “Omg this is so me!! I love Target! I do this!” said one woman.

Dying! Too true,” read another.

We hope Pennington finds her BFF!
