Mold found in 3 schools that had delayed classes last year

Posted August 10

— A central Pennsylvania school district that closed schools and delayed some classes three weeks because of mold last year has found more mold in three schools.

Officials in the East Pennsboro School District say they're being "honest" and "transparent" about the problems in light of last year's situation.

Mold was found on some carpeting and ceiling tile at West Creek Hills Elementary School and mold spores were found in the air in East Pennsboro Elementary and East Pennsboro High School, too.

The district is blaming the problem on aging heating and air conditioning systems that don't remove enough moisture from the air.

The mold was found during tests to ensure classes aren't delayed again this year.

Assistant Superintendent Greg Milbrand says officials "are almost 100 percent confident" classes will start as scheduled Aug. 21.
