The annual Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM Backpack Buddies food drive is Wednesday morning at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh and Crossroads Plaza in Cary.

Swing by between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to drop off food or monetary donations to support the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in feeding kids who don't have enough food at home on the weekends.

Backpack Buddies accepts kid-friendly, non-perishable food including cereal, packaged noodles, canned vegetables and fruit, granola bars, juice boxes, and canned meats and stews, among other items.

There are two donation locations:

  • Crabtree Valley Mall (in the Sears / Macy’s parking lot on the corner of Creedmoor & Glenwood)
  • Crossroads Plaza (in parking lot in front of Old Navy)
  • You can also donate online

WRAL-TV's David Crabtree will be at the Cary location with Vanna Fox from 6 to 8:30 a.m.

WRAL-FM's Lynda Loveland and Mike Chase will be at Crabtree Valley Mall from 6 to 10 a.m., then at Crossroads from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Be sure to say hello!

Last year, the program helped more than 1,600 kids by distributing more than 59,000 backpacks filled with weekend meals.
