Greenville, N.C. — The body of a Tarboro volunteer firefighter was found Wednesday, 10 days after he disappeared while swimming in a river in Princeville.
Heartsease volunteer firefighter Anthony Brunett went missing on March 13 while he was swimming, according to the Nash County Sheriff's Department. A Nash County reserve sheriff's deputy found Brunett's body while he was fishing in Greenville.
Deputies said the 20-year-old Brunett was fishing with two friends when they decided to go swimming before he disappeared. Rescue crews initially used underwater cameras, sonar and divers in an attempt to locate Brunett.
