Missing Sampson woman found dead

A Sampson County woman who went missing last week has been found dead, authorities said Thursday.

Relatives reported Eileen Marie Carter, 41, of Garland, missing on March 28.

Sampson County deputies found a woman's body in a wooded area in the Ingold community on Saturday, and the body was later identified as that of Carter, authorities said.

The cause of death hasn't bee released, and authorities said they were withholding the exact location of the body so as not to jeopardize the investigation.
