Missing Goldsboro boy, mom found safe

Posted July 22, 2010

— Goldsboro police say a missing 2-year-old boy and his mother, who has medical and cognitive impairments, have been found safe.

Lawrence Jamal "Boogie" Heath had last been seen with his mother, Lakesha Heath, in the 100 block of Swan Street in Goldsboro on Wednesday, police said.

Police issued an alert for them early Thursday and said they considered Lawrence to be missing and endangered. Heath is his biological mother but does not have custody due to her impairments, police said.

Police said Heath came home with her son later Thursday. Both were safe and sound.

Homer - what do you mean no one was in danger, especially in the other amber alert? The kids were abducted at gunpoint! Their release was negotiated by law enforcement officers. This could easily have turned tragic.

exactly, dj - the public deserves to know what happened and what will happen in the future to make sure she doesn't take him again.

well, the rest of the story please..you concerned us with this much, why not tell us where the child has been.

  • JAT Jul 22, 2010

Well, whoever had him shouldn't have let the bio mom take him. And is she going to get arrested for kidnapping him?

I posted this on another story...

So today we've got 2 amber alerts and 1 silver alert. So far it seems no one was in danger.

Soon this will be like hearing a car alarm.. everyone hears it, but no one does anything about it.

    "They were traveling on foot."

They left on foot. I know they say she has medical and cognitive impairments but does she drive? (some people with impairments do still have driver's licenses) She couldn't have gotten to far on foot with a 2yr old. Start asking the buses in that area, around that time if they recognize her boarding or any cabs. She cannot be far unless she has a boyfriend or friends that are enabling her.

"if she has medical and cognitive impairments...she probably shouldn't have had children to begin with."

maybe but we don't know the entire story on that, she may have been raped or taken advantage of sexually by a boyfriend due to her impairments. Maybe her mom or family who is in charge of making her medical desicions didn't believe in aborting babies...which is probably why she didn't have custody of the child...maybe she just came by to visit him(if she doesn't live there herself) took him outside and left. Maybe she doesn't even know she shouldn't have left the house or yard whatever with him by herslf. I just hope they are both found safe!

Just because a women can have children does NOT mean she is capable of mothering a child...pleanty of women who can bear a child in the prison system..mental health system.......with serious "defects" that should not be passed on,,,would it be a "God" given right to have them produce a child...what does that say for the ones who WANT children and could provide a loving , nuturing environment...and yet are unable to concieve or carry a pregnancy ???????????..I pray this women and child are found sooner than later...alive and well!
