Missing Fayetteville woman died from gunshot wound to head

Fayetteville police on Friday said that a medical examiner has positively identified the remains found off Gregory Street as those of Denika Lashalle Jones, a 26-year-old woman who went missing May 15.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. —  

A Fayetteville woman whose body was found in some woods last month died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy report released Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill.

 

Denika Lashalle Jones, 26, disappeared May 15 after police found her boyfriend, Tommy Loren Webb, dead inside the couple's home.

Webb, 35, had been shot multiple times, and Jones' cellphone and personal belongings were left inside the home.

Jones' remains were found off Gregory Street in Fayetteville on May 23.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
