Fayetteville police: Veteran reported missing is OK

— Fayetteville police said Thursday that a veteran reported missing by his family has talked with authorities and is OK.

Investigators said Wednesday that Bennie Fairley was dropped off at the Veterans Administration Hospital, at 2300 Ramsey St., on Jan. 6.

"We have talked to him today and he is alive and well," a police department spokesperson said in a statement. "His rights to privacy prevent us from providing any additional information."

    he might still be at the VA hospital. more so since this is about the Fayetteville VA. it took them 2.5 years to call me to add me. this was only after the VA was caught delaying patents.

    they left me a message, and told me they would call me back, but never did. I still have not been contacted by the VA and now it is 3 years+

    I have other insurance thru Tricare.

    Why wasn't he reported missing for 10 whole days?
    I pray he is found safe somewhere, but that is not a great area of Durham. In fact, there are few great areas of Durham left where someone can walk alone and be safe.
