The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Tuesday for a man who they believe might be headed to Cleveland, Ohio.

Fayetteville police are looking for Damon Rodrick Scott, 40, who was last seen Sept. 4 buying a bus ticket at a Greyhound bus station.

Scott, who was reported missing Tuesday, requires medication, which he currently does not have, authorities said.

He is black, stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 230 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. Scott was last seen wearing denim shorts, a white T-shirt, a green hooded sweatshirt with a zipper and black sneakers.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
