Apex, N.C. — An elderly Apex man who went missing around 4 p.m. on Saturday was located by Dorchester County authorities in South Carolina Sunday evening.
Robert Clarence Boone, 89, was traveling to the Food Lion on Laura Duncan Road Saturday afternoon, according to the Boone family.
Boone’s daughter, Donna, said her father is battling with an onset of dementia.
“On a typical day like today, he would be sitting in the yard,” Donna Boone said. “He’d be talking with us, playing with the dogs and just watching the cars go by.”
Robert Boone has four children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
“He loves his family. He sticks close to his family and he sticks close to home,” Donna Boone said. “So this is one of the reasons why it’s very disturbing.”
Officials sent out a statewide Silver Alert late Saturday night for the missing 89-year-old.
“It’s very surreal,” she said. “It’s something you see on TV. You do not expect it to be happening to your own family. It’s distressing.”
