Missing children, car found in Graham; suspect at large

Posted August 7, 2011

— An SUV reported missing with two children inside early Sunday was found just before noon. Both children were unharmed.

The vehicle's owner, Alberto Perez Medina said three of his children were asleep in the white 2003 Cadillac Escalade at about 5 a.m. when it was stolen from 840 N. Sellars Mill Road in Burlington. One child was able to escape.

Burlington police told WXII-TV in Winston-Salem that Medina and his family gave the suspect a ride when he hopped in the driver's seat and took off. Authorities are looking for Jamie Sosa, of Winston-Salem, whom they plan to charge with kidnapping.

The car and the other two children – ages 11 and 4 – were found safe near Medina's home in the 1100 block of Mobile Park Road in Graham.

Please report any information to the Burlington Police Department at 336-229-3500 or Burlington / Alamance Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.

Earlier I tried to post and mentioned the word 'profiling'. I think GOLO misread my post, or wasn't educated enough to know. I was talking about economic profiling, NOT racial profiling.

Praisegod, I was thinking the exact same thing!

Who said the suspect was a stranger? According to what I saw on the news last night, he was someone known to the family. He fell asleep on the way home, and when the father couldn't wake him up (or something like that), he went to the door to get someone from the house, and the suspect jumped in the driver's seat and took off.

Ok, let's not jump to conclusions over what kind of early morning business deals the parents may have been making. It's a good bet that they were out delivering the morning newspaper route.;-)

Glad the children are ok and safe. But I have to say, something about this story doesn't seem right. Why were they up at 5:30 am? Why give a stranger a ride with your family in the vehicle? How did they know his full name??? Like I said, there is more to this story than we know...I'm not saying..I'm just saying...

Okay -- I'll mention the elephant in the room.

WHY WERE THE KIDS SLEEPING IN THE CAR AT 5AM? AND - WHERE WERE THE PARENTS???
