Missing Bragg soldier found in Florida

Posted August 22, 2014

Army Pvt. Juliet Striped Wolf was last seen on July 1, 2014.

— A Fort Bragg soldier missing since the beginning of July was located Friday in Florida, officials said.

Pvt. Juliet Striped Wolf was found safe and unharmed in Volusia County, Fla., said Chris Grey, spokesman for the Army Criminal Investigative Command at Fort Bragg.

Striped Wolf, a military intelligence soldier in the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion, last spoke with her mother on July 1.

The Army's Special Operations Command considered her AWOL and said there were no suspicious circumstances in her disappearance. Still, CID investigators looked into the case and searched a home in Brunswick County on Monday.

Striped Wolf has been in a turbulent relationship with Amanda Cardone, a woman from Brunswick County with a lengthy criminal record, according to Striped Wolf's mother, Janel Striped Wolf.

She said investigators told her that Cardone, wanted for a probation violation, and her daughter were in civilian custody in Florida.

Why not? not politically correct? I notice they allow you to post this but a conservative remark isn't. ... like the fact that a waste of money and time was spent -- isn't that what made the whole story interesting? moreover, there are literally hundreds of people AWOL, why publish this one on the news -- stirs up everyone doesn't it?

She should be sent to Fort Leavenworth for a long time. And she should be made to pay for every penny it costs to keep her there.

She will be fine. Because she is female she will be let off easy. Always a double standard in ajudacation of females.

DJOFRALEIGH asked...."What does she do in the military"?

UMMMM.....I think she was a military intelligence soldier, in the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion. Not that I could know that for sure. It certainly wasn't mentioned in this article.

Why hide that it was violent? As for it being gay, as they add after saying, "not that there's anything wrong with that."

What does she do in the military, and do we need soldiers with this kind of drama? This isn't WWII and she ain't Robert E. Lee Pruitt.

How could she have been gone this long and no one in the military seemed to notice until her mother contacted them?

  • elizabethbasnight Aug 22, 2014

Is it really necessary to include in this article the nature of her relationship?

Having served, unless one has relatives in the military that can tell some considering it the TRUTH (unlike so many recruiters, basic "sales people" trained to "spin" raise their recruitment numbers), there is MUCH few civilians know about the military, including those considering joining it.
Still, when one signs that contract, one honors it.
But then if someone doesn't, I wouldn't want them guarding my back in an armed skirmish or on a battlefield anyway.

Why sign up for the military in the first place? What exactly didn't she know about it before joining? A lot of wasted time and money looking for this woman.
