Minister pleads guilty to child pornography

Posted May 14, 2014

— A Pentecostal minister pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to receiving child pornography.

Timothy Jack Strickland, 42, of Mount Olive, was found in possession of child pornography after a Federal Bureau of Investigation task force officer discovered such files on his computer.

Approximately 11,000 images of child pornography were found after authorities seized a laptop, several hard drives and other media devices from his home.

Strickland, who is scheduled to be sentenced in August, could face up to 20 years in prison.

It clearly states the laptop was seized.

I am glad this guy is going to prison. 20 years isn't long enough though.

Question: (for someone who actually knows the answer please) This Strickland guy was chatting online with this investigator, according to news reports. How exactly was this investigator able to see files in Strickland's computer, during a chat? Is that legal? Again, I am glad they got him. Just curious.
