Mining and Energy Commission members file disclosure forms

Posted January 21, 2013
Updated January 25, 2013

— Members of North Carolina's Mining and Energy Commission will set the rules that govern how and where natural gas exploration can take place around the state. Specifically, they are responsible for writing rules to guard against environmental problems associated with "fracking," a cluster of practices that involve the use of horizontal drilling and explosives to extract gas from shale rocks.

Members of the fracking board took up their posts in late 2012. They were required to file Statements of Economic Interest (SEI) forms with the North Carolina Ethics Commission by Jan. 15. This page contains links to the SEI for each commissioner as well as a summary of their form. The contact information listed comes from the MEC web page.
