Millbrook High student charged with setting fire

— A Millbrook High School student is accused of setting a fire on school property.

Abbas Ali, 17, of 8716 Harps Mill Road in Raleigh, is charged with setting a small fire in a school restroom on Thursday, according to an arrest warrant. The fire was put out quickly.

No one was injured.

Ali was released on bond and into the custody of his parents on Thursday. He is due in court on Friday.

    Yeah, this happened at least once a year when I was in HS. Mostly it was kids trying to smoke in the restroom and throwing still burning cigs in the trash on the way out the door, or kids who trying to get out of a test or presentation so they throw a lit match in the trash and hope the school closes for the rest of the day.

    Can anyone here honestly say this didn't happen at some point while they were in high school?

    This isn't news or a news brief. It's something kids at this school should use as fodder between their friends and family to mock this kid.

    Ali doesn't look to happy in that picture. Why would a nice person like him want to set fire to a restroom?
