— First lady Michelle Obama will be in Fayetteville on Thursday to help with the filming of a television show to benefit a military family that helps homeless female veterans find housing, the White House said Monday.

The appearance is part of Obama's Joining Forces initiative to help military families.

Barbara Marshall is a 15-year Navy Veteran who created The Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House, which provides homeless female veterans with housing and support services.

BTW, HAVE YOU ALL EVER WONDERED IF THE MONEY THEY MAKE FROM "APPEARANCES" (I.E. TV) IS THE MONEY THEY USE TO TAKE THEIR "VACATIONS"?????

Nope, they use tax payer money for that

The EMHE, has never been about ANY CELEBRITY that has made an appearance and/or given a helping hand! The issues with troops not getting what they deserve, did not start with Obama!

Leave it to Obama to come down and overshadow something truly important for our military and community in general. Obama has shown just how little he supports our military/families especially when we almost didn't get payed. Let's not forget that this is about Barbara and our homeless female Veterans. The work Barbara has been doing is amazing and this build will give her the ability to help more and in greater ways. Hopefully when the show airs it will focus on Barbara and all the people who actually picked up hammers and gave their sweat and time to make the build successful. Kudos to Barbara and please don't forget that Barbara will continue to need the support of the community in helping our homeless female Veterans well after EMHE leaves.

The issue is not where she goes or who she visits. The issue is the cost to tax payers at a time when the country is broke. The goverement looks at 1000 or so as peanuts and not worth worrying about. That attitude is what wrong up there now. Ever little penny had to come from some where.

Mike in NC: Are you serious? Why not start with the city of Fayetteville!!!! Why does it have to pass, the congressman, mayor, governor & senator of the state and go straight to the White House!!!! Are you serious?

is it not the vote of the house (or whomever, I don't follow policis so I could care less) that only a president can put anything into law? You all are accusing the Obamas for what's been happening for over 10 years and he's only been the president for what, 2 years 5 months & 19 days!!!!!

    Get real!!!

The Obama's had money before they took office! Their jobs are to do what they do, be it visiting other states, countries or what have you! Yall ain't complain when Bush (both of 'em) had to make public appearances as well as their wives!!!

Michelle and Martha just pulled the like stunt down here in Jacksonville. The old man is sending her out and about now as "point man" for his reelection. Look at us we care about military spouses. We care about homeless vets. TO LITTLE TOO LATE! Agree with previous poster. Go visit Walter Reed. Charity begins at home lady! Maybe go downtown in DC and walk the streets about 0100.
