Michael and Son nabs Mike Tyson for Super Bowl commercial

While the “puppymonkeybaby” Super Bowl commercial had people talking around the country Monday, many on the East Coast were also buzzing about a Michael and Son commercial featuring former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson.

The 30-second ad, which made its first appearance just before halftime and ran several times Sunday night, featured Tyson stepping into the boxing ring with his son, Amir Tyson, to take over the fight in a repairman’s uniform.

The commercial aired in only a few markets on the East Coast, including Raleigh.

Basim Mansour, president of the Washington, D.C. area company, would not disclose the cost of the spot to The Washington Post, but said it cost more than $100,000.

“I’m not a stupid businessman, I didn’t [grow up] with money and I don’t like to waste money,” Mansour told The Washington Post. “It’s far less than what people are going to think it costs.”
