Meredith College

— Students on the third floor of Heilman Residence Hall at Meredith College were forced to leave their rooms recently after bats were found in an exterior wall, according to the school.

"A safe, environmentally friendly process is being used to remove the bats," Meredith College spokeswoman Melyssa Allen said in a statement Wednesday. "All students who live in the residence hall were interviewed, and any who may have been in contact with a bat are receiving health consultations as an extreme precaution."

Meredith officials say there is "a very low risk of any issues" associated with the small number of bats found and that they are erring on the side of caution.

That whole campus is pretty dilapidated. Lots of deferred maintenance...

Guano does not just spawn Ebola though. It's not like Ebola would magically appear in this residence hall because guano is present.

    Toxic doesn't mean virus spawning.

We have millions of bats in the US and no Ebola in the US until it came from Africa in a human.

Guano, or bat feces is very toxic. If one wants. The first case of Ebola was traced to bat Guano (feces). As I recall..

Were they in the belfry (bats in their belfry)?
I'm glad no one was hurt. I pray none of the bats will be either because we need those little beasties.
