Meredith College ensemble presents 'Little Women,' plans Victorian tea

Meredith Ensemble Theatre will present "Little Women," a musical version of the classic book by Louisa May Alcott this month. Shows include a pre-performance Victorian tea on Valentine's Day that might be fun for moms and their daughters.

Performances are 7:30 p.m., Feb. 11 to Feb. 15, plus 2 p.m., Feb. 14, in Jones Auditorium on the campus off Hillsborough Street in west Raleigh. Tickets for the show are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. 

Before the Saturday evening show, a Victorian tea will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Johnson Hall. Guest speakers will be John Rose, former clerk of the Houses of Parliament, who will speak about the tradition of English afternoon tea. Dr. Robin Colby, an English professor at Meredith, will talk about the novel Little Women and the Alcott family.

Reservations are required for the tea. The cost is $7. To reserve your tickets for the show or your space for the tea, email boxoffice@meredith.edu or call 919- 760-2840. Seating is limited. Women and girls are encouraged to don hats and gloves for the tea.
