DURHAM, N.C. — Charges have been dropped against two men accused of shooting at an unmarked car driven by Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez last year.

Durham County prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to pursue a case against Tony “Big Red” Person, 28, and Lebron “Gutta” Brown, 22.

Lopez was driving near the intersection of South Roxboro and Dillard streets on April 29, 2010, when he got caught in the crossfire between men in two vehicles. One shot went through his windshield, but he wasn't injured.

Person and Brown were arrested two weeks later in Lynn, Mass.
