Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts' Memorial Auditorium will not be a venue for this year's Hopscotch Music Fest. The venue announced Monday that it will be closed June 23-Nov. 23 for renovations to the venue's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

Memorial Auditorium will open temporarily for these events:

  • The North Carolina Theater’s production of Disney’s “Little Mermaid” July 29 - Aug. 3.
  • A concert by bluegrass music artist Rhonda Vincent and other activities related to the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass event Sept, 30-Oct. 2.
  • The North Carolina Theater’s production of “A Chorus Line” Oct. 14-19.

Duke Energy Center's Kennedy Theatre shares an HVAC system with Memorial so it will also be affected by the renovations. Theatre Raleigh's "Hot Summer Nights" series, scheduled May 14 - Aug. 24 will go on as planned. They will be renting an air-conditioning unit for the show.

The Fletcher Opera Theater and Meymandi Concert Hall will not be affected by the renovations.

Good!!! Went to see Elf this past December and thought they had it cold in there because it was supposed to take place at the North Pole. Kept my jacket, scarf and gloves on the entire performance just so I wasn't shivering.
