Memorial Auditorium closing this summer for HVAC improvements
The Memorial Auditorium will not be a venue for this year's Hopscotch Music Festival because it will be closed through November.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts' Memorial Auditorium will not be a venue for this year's Hopscotch Music Fest. The venue announced Monday that it will be closed June 23-Nov. 23 for renovations to the venue's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
Memorial Auditorium will open temporarily for these events:
- The North Carolina Theater’s production of Disney’s “Little Mermaid” July 29 - Aug. 3.
- A concert by bluegrass music artist Rhonda Vincent and other activities related to the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass event Sept, 30-Oct. 2.
- The North Carolina Theater’s production of “A Chorus Line” Oct. 14-19.
Duke Energy Center's Kennedy Theatre shares an HVAC system with Memorial so it will also be affected by the renovations. Theatre Raleigh's "Hot Summer Nights" series, scheduled May 14 - Aug. 24 will go on as planned. They will be renting an air-conditioning unit for the show.
The Fletcher Opera Theater and Meymandi Concert Hall will not be affected by the renovations.
