Thanks for checking out GoAskMom.com!

Who am I? I'm the mom of two girls ... a preschooler and a grade schooler. I grew up in upstate New York, once considered playing flute professionally, love to put ketchup on my mac and cheese, and, one day, plan to see the Northern Lights in Norway.

You might recognize my name. For more than a decade, I was a reporter for The News & Observer. I wrote a column about family-friendly events for nearly three years and ran the newspaper's website for moms. I left the job after the birth of my second daughter. And I feel extraordinarily lucky that WRAL hired me a few months later for a job that I can do from home ... or the playground.

My goal is to make your journey through motherhood in the Triangle a little easier and a little more fun. I search deep inside the Triangle for the best there is for kids to see and do.

Here's our regular line-up:

On Monday, WRAL reporter Amanda Lamb, the author of several books including several about motherhood, writes about her mom adventures. We also feature local moms.

Every Tuesday, the good folks at Duke Medicine, our sponsor, will provide up-to-date medical information.

On Wednesday, our Help a Mom feature poses readers' questions about everything from parenting to local resources.

On Thursday, Lynda Loveland, co-host of 101.5 WRAL-FM's The Mix Morning Show, writes about life with her three children. We also feature weekend fun for families.

On Friday, we share recipes and focus on a fun place in the region for families, including parks, playgrounds, museum exhibits, historic sites, local shops and more.

But that's not all. Every week, you'll find information about fun contests, news about events across the Triangle and databases listing summer camps, children's consignment sales, holiday events, restaurants where kids can eat for free and much more. WRAL-TV staffers Julia Sims, Sloane Heffernan and Jackie Hyland join in once a month too.

And for more, check out our active Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Please join us. Read. Comment. Have fun!

And please let me know what you think. Send me an e-mail with your ideas.
