FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A state Medical Examiner's report confirms that a Fayetteville-area man was murdered, Cumberland County authorities announced Tuesday.

Detectives were trying to determine who killed Clarence Bauer, 79, of 348 Star Lane. A friend found Bauer dead in the home Saturday after not being able to reach him.
