Chris Mintz-Plasse is probably sick of being called McLovin, but he will always be the iconic character from the 2007 film "Superbad" to us.

"McLovin has a band?!" is the first thought we had when we found out his group, The Young Rapscallions, would be playing Local 506 in Chapel Hill Thursday night.

The garage rock band includes Mintz-Plasse on drums, bassist Taylor Messersmith, guitarist Nick Chamian and singer Jonathan Sanders. The four friends formed the group in 2007.

They are in the midst of their Over the Hill tour, which has already hit bars in Texas and Alabama, and runs through the end of the month.

For a sampling of their music, check out their website and Youtube channel.
The all-ages show at Local 506 starts at 9 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets start at $8.
