McDonald's donates Happy Meals
RALEIGH, N.C. — Central North Carolina McDonald's operators on Friday made good on a promise to match every Happy Meal sold with a certificate for a meal for a needy child.

McDonald's donated 22,000 certificates for Happy Meals Friday to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC. The food bank will distribute the coupons to clients with children.

To highlight the program, Ronald McDonald himself visited Raleigh's North Millbank Court Apartments where 100 children enjoyed a free Happy Meal lunch.
“In our area alone, 1 in 4 children is food insecure," said says Lisa Powell, a local McDonald’s owner/operator and a mother of two. "This is alarming, and McDonald’s owners are doing something about it.”
