McCrory to sign first bill Monday

Raleigh, N.C. — North Carolina high school diplomas will carry endorsements marking students as career read, college ready or both under the requirements of a bill Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to sign into law Monday. 

The bill, which is meant to encourage more students to finish high school while pursuing trades that don't require a four-year degree, is the first measure McCrory is due to sign into law as governor. 

The Republican is traveling to Randolph Community College in Asheboro, the home district of Republican Sen. Jerry Tillman, the bill's primary sponsor.

Provisions in the bill earned bipartisan support – only one member of the General Assembly voted against it – and officials with the state Department of Public Instruction told lawmakers they favored the bill.

The measure also fulfills a key campaign promise for McCrory.

The destruction of NC is about to begin. Let the circus start up. We should begin to audit all the billions of tax dollars the gop is refusing -- 180,000 unemployed put on the street; 500,000 uninsured out on the street yet still going to emergency rooms WITH NO WAY TO PAY???!!!!! YEA REPUBLICANS!!! When faced with a house on fire -- they chop up the fire hose and watch the house burn down!!! How's that small government thing working out for ya...
