Governor-elect Pat McCrory will take the oath of office, and therefore take power, at noon on Jan. 5 in the state Capitol building, according to transition staffers speaking on background.

An official release with more details is expected later today.

McCrory will still have a slate of official inaugural activities on Jan. 11, when the Junior League of Raleigh will host an inaugural ball, and Jan. 12, when McCrory will give his inauguration speech.

Full details are expected later today, but transition staff sources speaking on background said that McCrory will attend a closed-press church service before his inauguration. Events are planned during the time between Jan. 5 and Jan. 12 that include the Western Residence.

Update: Here is the full list of inauguration events from the McCrory transition team:

Raleigh, N.C. – Today, Governor-Elect Pat McCrory's transition office released the following scheduling details for the inaugural proceedings:

  • After consultations with the Perdue Administration and the General Assembly, Governor-Elect McCrory will be officially sworn in on Jan. 5 in the Old Senate Chamber to ensure his cabinet and leadership team is in place prior to the General Assembly’s opening session on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

  • Inauguration Festivities will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12 in Capitol Square, where Governor McCrory will participate and deliver his Inaugural Address.

  • Between Jan. 5 and leading up to his Inaugural Address on Jan. 12, Governor McCrory will attend official and inaugural activities while holding public open houses across the state. Details of additional public and official events are forthcoming and will be released as they become available.

Man that's a lot of celebrations.

Can't come soon enough. Then the Post-Perdue recovery can begin.

Did all the republicons move to NC while the remainder of the country goes Democrat? I am ashamed of our state.

Either he's eager to get to work or eager to spend the taxpayers money! I'm not sure which one the Governor elect is yet!

Who's paying for all this partying?

Clearly, McCrony has a lot of big donors to thank.

Let the party begin. Time to pay the piper.

Its OK Dookie, I got yur back

All right GOP you have until Jan 6 to solve all of NC problems. No excuses. You are entirely in control.

"Man that's a lot of celebrations."

The people of this state should also be celebrating, considering what we got rid of.
