McCrory makes DOT board appointments

Gov. Pat McCrory has nominated 10 members of the State Board of Transportation, one of the most politically potent boards in the state. Members help determine in what order road construction and repair projects get done.

McCrory's appointments will be reviewed by the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Transportation. Among those on the list is Ferrell Blount, a former North Carolina Republican Party chairman. Here is the list as detailed in a news release from the governor's office: 

State Board of Transportation, Division 1 (East)
Appoint Malcolm Fearing - Fearing is the President of Outer Banks Insurance Agency, Inc. He and his wife Susan live in Manteo, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 3 (Southeast)
Appoint Michael Lee - Lee practices law at Lee Law Firm, PLLC. He and his wife Heidi live in Wilmington, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 5 (Triangle)
Appoint Michael Smith - Smith is President of Kane Realty Corporation. He and his wife Mary Dee live in Raleigh, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 7 (Triad-Greensboro)
Appoint Dwight Stone - Stone is President of D. Stone Builders, Inc. He and his wife Diane live in Greensboro, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 9 (Triad-Winston-Salem)
Appoint Jake Alexander - Alexander is Sales Director of Genan, Inc. He and his wife Susan live in Salisbury, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 11 (Northwest)
Appoint James Palermo - Palermo is Executive in Residence at Johnson & Wales University. He and his wife Sharron live in Boone, NC.

State Board of Transportation, Division 13 (West)
Appoint David Brown - Brown is Owner of D.L.B. Properties. He and his wife Cecelia live in Asheville, NC.

State Board of Transportation, At-Large (Environment)
Appoint Ferrell Blount - Blount is a farmer and President of Blount Companies. He and his wife Lynda live in Bethel, NC.

State Board of Transportation, At-Large (Ports & Aviation)
Appoint John Lennon - Lennon is Managing Partner of Oceancrest Advisory Services, LLC. He and his wife Elizabeth Ann live in Wilmington, NC.

State Board of Transportation, At-Large (Government Finance)
Appoint Edward Curran - Curran is President and CEO of The Bissell Companies. He and his wife Martha live in Charlotte, NC.

I note that Ferrell Blount is listed as having involvement in the environmental impact of DOT's decisions. Fertilizer business...environmental impact? I find this odd!

lmatthews1948, I think by the time McCrory is done with us, there won't be any credible "environmental impact" government positions left in the state.
