Maxton mayor charged with assault

Posted November 17, 2008

— Maxton mayor Gladys Dean has a court date in December on a charge that she assaulted another woman at the town's Collard Festival Nov. 8.

Dean was charged with simple assault and released on a promise to appear in court, Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealy said.

He did not provide details of the assault, noting merely that Dean had turned herself in.

The charge she faces is a misdemeanor.

Sorry, but sometimes you have to find a little humor in some of the stories. Maybe the defense will say that the people involved were suffering from severe gas pains and were out of their minds. Oh Oh, is this a lawsuit in the making,LOL......

If she is guilty, then give her the death penalty, I say, give her the death penalty. The public has had enough abuse from elected officials. And we cannot allow the consumption of collards to be viewed with anything less than total dignity!

I reckon they take their collards seriously in Maxton.
