Market moves forward with restaurant, grocery catering plans

— We know Market as a great restaurant for fresh cuisine, but they are taking that concept even further. 

The restaurant has teamed up with Green Planet Catering to open a restaurant, grocery and catering company on Franklin Street in the Person Street Plaza in downtown Raleigh. 

The Market - Restaurant, Grocery and Catering will include a 93 seat restaurant, more than 1,500 square-feet of retail and grocery space, an in-house butcher and prepared food. The 2,500 square-foot kitchen will also be used for catering. 

Production is underway now and is expected to be done by early summer. The skylights and the front windows were installed this week, so things are really shaping up!

They are running a Kickstarter project to help raise money for canning and jarring equipment that will be used for the retail store and community classes. 

The equipment is expensive with a new Combi-Oven running nearly $19,000 and upkeep is crucial, according to the Kickstarter page. 

Market is trying to raise $25,000 by Tuesday, May 21. If they do not raise that amount, the funds that have been pledged will not be processed.
