Santa Train at the Museum of Life and Science

Tickets for the Museum of Life and Science's popular Santa Train are on sale to museum members this week and the general public on Nov. 8.

The after-hours event at the Durham museum, now in its 39th year, features a ride aboard the museum's Ellerbe Creek Railway to the "North Pole" where you'll see Santa and his elves. Back at the station, there are crafts, hot chocolate, face painting and a synthetic ice rink where you can skate in your socks.

I took my younger daughter last year and we had a blast! Tickets are between $15 and $22, depending on the day you go.

It runs the evenings of Dec. 1 to Dec. 4, Dec. 8 to Dec. 11 and Dec. 15 to Dec. 21.

Tickets go on sale to members this week, starting Tuesday. They are on sale to the general public at 9 a.m., Nov. 8.

The museum's website has more information.
