Go Ask Mom returns to North Hills Kids next Wednesday, Aug. 21, with a whole bunch of fun to help you and the kids while away the final days of summer break.
We'll be there from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., part of North Hills'
North Hills Kids program. Each weekday, except Thursday, through the spring and summer, North Hills pulls out big colorful foam blocks for kids to play with. It all takes place in the Commons next to Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's.
Go Ask Mom will be sponsoring the area next Wednesday and adding some special events to the mix! Here's what's scheduled:
9 a.m.: The big event opens with blocks, drinks, snacks and coloring sheets for the kids. The Wake County Sheriff's Office and New York Life Insurance Company will offer free child identification cards all morning. The
Carolina RailHawks and their mascot Swoops also will be on hand all morning with information about their fall season.
Stroller Strides Midtown Raleigh also offers a free class at 9 a.m. for moms and their stroller-riding kids. This is a great hour-long workout for moms. It's designed for all fitness levels and incorporates little activities for the kids too. If you're interested in the class,

10 a.m. to noon:
Lil' Chef will stop by for a fun cookie decorating activity and raffle.
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: The
Chick-fil-A cow stops by for a visit! He'll have some cow hats for the kids and samples, too!
10:30 a.m.:
First In Fire Company will bring out its fire truck for kids to explore. The company, owned by a local dad, rents out the truck for parties.
11 a.m.: Raleigh mom
Rissi Palmer, who once hit the country charts and opened for the likes of Taylor Swift, Sawyer Brown and Sarah Evans, will perform songs from her new family album "Best Day Ever!" Read more about Palmer in this earlier post.
And we'll be collecting school supplies for the
Boys & Girls Club of Wake County's Pencil Drive. The school supplies will go to some of the 4,500 underprivileged children that the club serves in its after school and summer programs. Stay tuned for more information on how you can help later this week.
And when it's all over at 1 p.m., we won't be gone for long! We'll be back on Saturday, Aug. 31, with more fun during its Midtown Farmers' Market!
