Mark your calendars for another pop-up cat cafe

Posted August 31

Purr Cup Cafe, which hopes to open a permanent cat cafe in spring 2018 in Raleigh, organized a pop-up cafe at Read With Me, the new children's book store in downtown Raleigh.

Get ready for another pop-up cat cafe, the brainchild of Purr Cup Cafe, which is working to raise the money for the startup costs to open Raleigh's first cat cafe.

A previous pop-up cat cafe at Read With Me earlier this year drew a big crowd. The next one is planned from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 10, at the Raleigh School of Ballet, 3921 Beryl Rd., Raleigh, not far from the N.C. State Fairgrounds. It's intended for families, but everybody is welcome.

Purr Cup Cafe's goal is to "create a haven for cat-lovers to enjoy a quality beverage or locally made treat in the company of adoptable cats looking for love and forever homes."

The afternoon will include crafts, dancing, coffee, snacks, a raffle and, of course, some real live kittens! It's free, but donations are encouraged.

To actually see the kittens, there will be a signup for admission to a kitten room so that the kittens aren't crowded and people have enough time to see them without being rushed. A signup will be released one week before the event. Check the event's Facebook page for updates. I suspect those slots may go pretty quickly!
