Bookmarked!, the annual celebration of reading and books, is set for 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, on The Commons at North Hills in Raleigh during its Midtown Farmers' Market.

This event, which ran over a couple of weeks in previous years, is now focused on one day. It includes readings from local celebrities along with activities, crafts and games.

It's all free, but participants could win prizes with a suggested donation. Prizes include restaurant gift cards, an iPad mini, an annual membership to Marbles Kids Museum and more.

Proceeds will support the Lucy Daniels Center's education and child mental health programs. The school works with children ages 3 to 7 with social and emotional challenges.

This year's line-up includes:

  • Emcees Joey Powell and Jake Fehling of Two Dads, One Mic
  • Theatre in the Park's Ira David Wood III (a Bookmarked! regular)
  • Accordionist and storyteller David DiGiuseppe
  • Children's performer Tina Cash
  • Durham Police Officer Jennifer Ormiston
  • WNCN's Page Crawford
  • Marbles Kids Museum's VP of Play Experience Pam Hartley
  • Jennifer Garst, MD, of Duke Raleigh Hospital

Swoops, the Carolina Railhawks' mascot, and the Chick-fil-A cow will be there. The Scrap Exchange will offer make-and-take crafts. They'll have face painting and other activities too.
