Staff Sgt. Leon H. Lucas Jr., 32, died while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
