ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — More than $270,000 worth of drugs was confiscated Wednesday morning by the state Highway Patrol and Rocky Mount police.

Troopers stopped a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near mile-marker 138 in Nash County for a minor traffic violation.

During the stop, the trooper said he became suspicious of criminal activity and asked the driver for consent to search the truck. The trooper found more than 67 pounds of marijuana in the truck's cab, according to the Highway Patrol.

Arturo Mena, 48, of Miami, Fla., was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. He bonded out of the Nash County jail Wednesday.
