Marbles Kids Museum will officially unveil its new grocery store and kitchen in the Around Town exhibit on Saturday.

Some major upgrades were made to the exhibits, which might just be among the more popular spots for little ones at the downtown Raleigh museum. Here, young kids love to push around mini grocery carts, check out at the register and then prepare countless meals for their family and friends.

As will be clear when you go, Lowes Foods, the long-time sponsor of the space, also sponsored the upgrades. Kids will play with boxes of Lowes-brand food. The upgrade includes new flooring and paint. You'll also find shelves with graphics that indicate where items go; a new oven, stove and prep area; and milk products in "cold case" shelves, among other improvements.

A special opening event is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. It's free with admission, which is $5 per person.
