Grandparents Day is apparently Sept. 8 and, to mark the day, Marbles Kids Museum is planning some special activities for grandparents and their grandkids.

It all happens the day before, on Sept. 7, presumably so we all can carry on with our annual Grandparents Day celebrations and traditions at home on the actual day. Or not. Either way, I love these special activities for grandparents and grandkids ... fun for those involved and a break for the parents.

So here's what's happening:

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 7, Marbles will offer some special activities for all ages. And grandparents can see documentaries and kids movie series movies for free if they come with their grandkids at Marbles' IMAX theater. The special activities are free with admission, which is $5 per person. Among the special events is the chance to practice some skills and drills with senior women's basketball players featured in the North Carolina documentary Granny's Got Game. They'll be there from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

From 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Sept. 7, Marbles will host a Buckaroo Breakfast for grandparents and grandkids. Enjoy breakfast, western activities, a campfire sing-a-long and play in the museum. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $20 per person for non-Marbles members and $15 per person for Marbles members. Click here for details.
