I'm a sucker for retro movies, which is apparently what we are calling the movies of my youth. We're talking about movies from the 1980s and 1990s.

And the IMAX theater at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh is planning a series showcasing some of my favorites. The Max Rewind Retro Movie series runs September through early November. Here's the line-up.

UPDATE: There is new pricing for this series. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids. If you want to see a movie and play in the museum, tickets are $10 for kids and $13 for adults.

I definitely hope to catch "The Princess Bride," my all-time favorite movie, with my nine-year-old.

Forrest Gump: The IMAX Experience
Showing Sept. 5 to Sept. 18

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids (1989)
Showing Sept. 19 to Sept. 25

The Princess Bride (1987)
Showing Sept. 19 to Oct. 2

Back to the Future (1985)
Showing Sept. 26 to Oct. 9

Gremlins (1984)
Showing Oct.10 to Oct. 23

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Showing Oct. 24 to Nov. 5

Unfortunately, $50 for a family of four is too much for me.

I am SO excited for this series! The only thing that would make it better is a discount if you plan on going to ALL of them! I love the Princess Bride too, but Back to the Future is my favorite! I hope they do this again in a couple years so I can take my babies when they are old enough. I hope they add The Neverending Story too!
