Ready, Set, School opens at Marbles Kids Museum

Is there a rising kindergartner in your house?

All of you can get ready for the big day during Marbles Kids Museum's Kick-off to Kindergarten, a great way for young kids to get excited about grade school and for parents to learn a little bit about what to expect. The event is held in partnership with Wake County Public School System and other local groups.

It's slated for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 20, at the downtown Raleigh museum. It's free for rising kindergartners and their families.

Activities include a practice lunch line, a moving and grooving recess, a school bus to hop on and circle time. There will be experts on hand to lead activities and answer parents' questions.

Both of my kids, when they were rising kindergartners, really enjoyed this event. We all got a lot out of it and it offered a fun way to celebrate this big step.
