Man charged with murder in Southern Pines pool hall shooting

Posted April 4, 2014

Je'Core Rayshad McKoy

— Southern Pines Police on Friday arrested a man they say is responsible for the shooting death of another outside a pool hall in October.

Je'Core Rayshad McKoy, 22, of Pinebluff, was among five people found shot in the parking lot at Leather Pockets Billiards, at 115 Turner St. in Southern Pines, on Oct. 27, 2013. He and three others – Curtis Lee Stubbs Jr., Derrikes Lamonte McRae and Lee Marvin Harris Jr. – had minor injuries, but one man, Maurice Donnell White, 31, died of his wounds three days later.

McKoy was arrested on drug charges last month and was in the Moore County Detention Center Friday when police charged him with White's murder.

His bond was revoked, and he faces a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
