SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — One of five people wounded in a weekend shooting outside a Southern Pines pool hall died Thursday morning, police said.

Police responded to Leather Pockets Billiards, at 115 Turner St., early Saturday after an officer on patrol in the area heard gunshots. Maurice Donnell White, 31, Curtis Lee Stubbs Jr., 22, Derrikes Lamonte McRae, 38, Jacore Rayshad McKoy, 22, and Lee Marvin Harris Jr., 28, were found shot in the parking lot.

White died Thursday. Stubbs, McKoy and Harris have already been released from the hospital, and McRae was expected to be released Thursday, police said.

No arrests have been made, and police asked that anyone who was at the pool hall or in the neighborhood at the time of the shooting call investigators at 910-693-1481 or the crime tip line at 910-693-4110.

Leather Pockets has surrendered its temporary permit for alcohol sales as part of the investigation, police said.
